Unified Payment Orchestration Platform

A Canadian fintech client needed to modernize cross-border payment operations by integrating multiple payment service providers through a single API layer. Eastgate built a cloud-native payment orchestration platform with a unified API gateway, intelligent PSP routing, and automated liquidity and reconciliation. The result was sub-300ms payment processing, 100% PSP integration coverage, and 20-40% gains in operational efficiency.

Challenge

  • Fragmented integrations: every PSP was wired up separately, so each new provider meant another one-off build and its own ongoing maintenance burden.
  • Manual operations: routing a payment to the right provider, managing liquidity across accounts, and reconciling transactions afterward all ran as manual processes that worked at small scale but broke down under real volume.
  • Compliance pressure: the ad hoc checks bolted onto each PSP integration weren’t strong or consistent enough to meet the regulatory expectations of international payment flows.
  • Slow expansion: onboarding a new PSP took long enough to directly block the company from entering new international payment corridors, with every new market gated behind another integration project.

Solution

  • Built a cloud-native orchestration platform with a unified API gateway, a single consistent interface that replaces provider-by-provider integration work.
  • Added intelligent PSP routing and adapter modules that absorb the differences between providers, so onboarding a new PSP means writing an adapter against a known pattern instead of rebuilding the integration from scratch.
  • Delivered liquidity, reconciliation, dashboard, KYC, and admin capabilities to replace the operational work that used to run manually.
  • Built on event-driven processing, authentication, webhooks, and DevSecOps practices so the platform holds up under real transaction volume.

Outcome

  • Sub-300ms payment processing latency across integrated PSPs, with the orchestration layer adding negligible overhead rather than becoming its own bottleneck.
  • 100% PSP integration coverage through the unified API layer, closing out the provider-by-provider integration work that used to define the client’s engineering roadmap.
  • 20-40% improvement in operational efficiency, once manual, error-prone routing and reconciliation were replaced by a system that does it consistently.
  • A scalable, secure foundation for onboarding future PSPs, in place of the multi-provider integration slog that started the project.
