Eastgate’s story begins in Aachen. Former Siemens engineers
Dr. Paul Mathias and
Christian Dowideit had built MAT Traffic to support the intelligent transportation industry.
As their work with Siemens grew, they needed more engineering capacity without losing the quality and discipline their projects demanded. They turned to
Tuan Nguyen, a senior developer and solution architect already working with MAT Traffic.
Tuan then reconnected with
Ha Bui, an old secondary school friend who was building FinTech platforms in the United States. The four shared the same idea: create an engineering organisation in Vietnam that would work as part of the German team, not simply supply developers from a distance.
In 2014, they founded Eastgate Software in Hanoi. Siemens Mobility became the first client.
That first partnership created the foundation for everything that followed. As clients saw the quality of the work, they asked Eastgate to take on more. The company expanded from intelligent transportation into FinTech, enterprise platforms, manufacturing and AI.
Today, more than 200 engineers work across Hanoi, Aachen and Tokyo. The company has grown across three continents, while the Siemens relationship that started the journey is still going strong.
