AI overuse risks: how to stay safe and productive

AI overuse risks are becoming a growing concern as more individuals rely on tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity for extended interactions. AI systems can confidently present false or unverified information, which users may accept without sufficient scepticism. 

To mitigate these risks, experts recommend using AI as a tool rather than a substitute for human judgment. The most effective approach is to limit AI usage to specific, verifiable tasks and avoid prolonged, open-ended interactions that can lead to confusion or dependency.
