Sovereign AI: How Nations Are Building Secure, Independent Digital Futures

The concept of sovereign AI—the ability for nations and corporations to independently develop, control, and deploy artificial intelligence—has emerged as a critical strategic priority for governments worldwide. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang recently urged leaders to pursue sovereign AI to address infrastructure gaps and ensure digital independence. That includes strategic planning, where governments define AI goals and infrastructure needs; deployment and localization, involving in-country data centers and culturally adapted models; and operational empowerment, ensuring nations can independently manage, maintain, and grow their AI ecosystems.
