Our Approach
TensorFlow and OpenCV are two of the most important tools used extensively in the field of machine learning and computer vision. TensorFlow is an open-source software library developed and maintained by Google Brain Team, which provides a wide range of functionalities to build and train machine learning models, including neural networks for deep learning. On the other hand, OpenCV (Open-Source Computer Vision Library) is another open-source library that is widely used to process visual data and perform several tasks such as image and video analysis, object detection and recognition, and face detection.
Together, TensorFlow and OpenCV form a powerful combination, providing researchers and developers with the necessary tools to build complex ML models and sophisticated computer vision-based applications. The Solution
Specifically, with the aid of TensorFlow’s Object Detection API and OpenCV, we embarked on a project to detect and number teeth accurately: TensorFlow’s Object Detection API for identifying teeth, OpenCV for numbering every tooth. Besides, the use of a Convolutional Neural Network during the training process also enabled the computer to learn the unique characteristics of each tooth.
As a result, our detection and labeling accuracy reached an impressive 94% for adult teeth and 84% for baby teeth. The engine was also able to accurately detect and classify teeth in X-rays with a variety of backgrounds and distortions.
Additionally, the engine is designed to be easily implemented into our client’s existing dental classification process, allowing for a seamless transition from manual methods. Our user-friendly interface allows staff members to quickly access data and customize treatment plans according to their patient’s needs.
