Reading is one of the most effective ways to improve oneself. It allows one to learn new things, expand knowledge, and gain a new perspective on life. In celebration of Vietnam Book Day and World Book Day, and in line with our commitment to promote self-development, Eastgate Software organized a Book Week last April 17 to April 21. This week-long event aimed to encourage reading culture among our team members by providing engaging activities to celebrate books and reading. If you missed out on the event, do not worry because we have got you covered. In this blog post, we will take you on a journey to embrace growth mindset by joining Eastgate Software’s Book Week.
A series of activities:
The Book Week included a series of activities: Book reading recap video, Book Review Contest, Donate books for the company bookcase, Book exchange group. With the Book Reading Recap activity, we believe that reading 15 minutes a day will help you form and maintain a reading habit for your life. So with this activity, our employees would have to store their 15 minutes of daily reading through a video to receive gifts every day. The video is a fantastic motivational tool to inspire those new to reading and reignite the spark for those who have been reading for an extended period. It’s short and sweet, and trust me, it will inspire you to pick up a book and start reading.
In line with our goal of promoting reading culture in the workplace, we decided to donate books for the company bookcase. It was heartwarming to see our team members donate books that they loved and believed would be helpful to others. This activity created a book-sharing culture within the company, where everyone is encouraged to read and share their thoughts about the books they read.
The Book Review Contest really was a useful playground for Eastgate’s writers to write down their impressions of interesting books they’ve read and receive prizes. This activity encouraged critical thinking and reflection, as our team members shared their opinions about the books they read. It was an engaging way to introduce the value of expressing oneself through writing, which is another useful skill for personal development.
Then we also divided our employees into many Book exchange groups as this is the unique chance to discover interesting titles suggested by members of your own reading group. The suggestion list showcased a diverse range of book genres, from fiction, self-help, biographies, and more. It was a great opportunity for us to learn from each other, as we discovered new books and authors that we can add to our reading list. This activity encouraged reading books from different genres and authors, as well as creating a sense of community among our team members. It was great to see team members excitedly exchanging books, sharing reading recommendations, and forming new connections through their shared love for books.
Some impressive result
By carrying out the campaign, we witnessed some impressive numbers of participants. Nearly 20 new books were donated to the company’s bookcase, with variety of kinds of books. There are 5 quality book reviews sent to the organizers and a lot of gifts were given to our employees marked the success of the program. 70% of our employees participated in the program and the internal communication’s effectiveness also witnessed amazing results.
Eastgate Software’s Book Week was a success, as it fostered reading culture in our workplace while promoting self-development through reading. We believe that reading is an essential tool for growth, and we’re committed to creating an environment where our team members feel encouraged to read and share their love for books. Through this event, we hope to have inspired our team members to continue reading, learning, and growing in all aspects of their lives. From the inspiring messages in the Book reading recap video to the fun and engaging Book exchange group, there is something for everyone. So don’t hesitate, join us, and let’s create memories and grow together.
