The City of Zurich is innovating its traffic light control system. For this, a new generation of traffic light controllers shall be installed and integrated into the existing ZUEM which is based on a powerline communication between the central system and the roadside controllers.

For this purpose, Eastgate Software implemented, integrated, and tested ZUEM+ driver, which is an online component, embedded in the traffic light controllers. The rollout of the new solution started beginning of 2019. Meanwhile, the traffic lights of more than 60 intersections are 24-7 controlled by the Eastgate driver.
